I'm Diego Balbuena, also known as Diego Amazonia, a recent Biology graduate from Lima, Peru. I specialized in Ecology in Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, and have been working in diverse research projects throughout the Peruvian Amazon.
I'm mainly interested in tropical ecology, and in sharing what I do in the field. This is the reason I started blogging about the expeditions and projects I have been a part of, and also gotten into photography.
I've had the opportunity to work for various national and international NGOs and Institutions, focusing mainly in non-invasive monitoring of wildlife, such as camera trapping and bioacoustics. My skills as a tree climber also allowed me to extend these methods into the canopy to study the rainforest as a three-dimensional ecosystem.
